On 30 October Il Sole24Ore presented the exemplary case of Turin Local Health District 1 which uses I-Tel’s Sm@rtCupRecall system to make automatic reminder calls to patients who have booked medical appointments so they can confirm or cancel them. The advantages for both the local health district which has been using it for almost a year, and the citizens who can see waiting lists reduced, are easy to see: from 18% of missed appointments the figure has dropped to 3%, also thanks to the on-demand cancellation service (upon the patient's initiative) operative 24 hours a day. Meaning huge savings for the health district, which can be calculated at 24 thousand euros a month, explains general manager Ferruccio Massa. The investment has been repaid after just two months of using the service.
